Aircraft Carrying US Defense Secretary Forced to Land in UK Because of Fracture in Cockpit Window

A plane transporting the US defense secretary was forced to make an emergency landing in the UK on Wednesday following a fracture was identified in the plane's windshield, according to an official statement which stated that the secretary was unharmed.

"The aircraft touched down following standard protocol and everyone onboard, including Secretary Hegseth, is secure," a press officer said in a online announcement.

The secretary was coming back from a short visit to Brussels during the flight.

This event does not mark the initial instance that a US military aircraft carrying a senior official has experienced technical problems.

In a previous incident this year, a US Air Force plane ferrying the US Secretary of State to the city in Germany was forced to return to Washington after experiencing a mechanical problem.
