England to Launch the European Championship 2028 Journey at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium

England’s men’s team will commence their UEFA Euro 2028 adventure at the Manchester City’s stadium, provided that they attain the relatively straightforward passage for a tournament taking place in the bulk of Britain and the Republic of Ireland.

Manchester City’s home ground has not hosted an Three Lions match since eight years ago, when Turkey were overcome 2-1 in a friendly, but is highly likely to stage the Three Lions for their first match on Saturday 10 June 2028.

England are scheduled to play their final two group matches at Wembley Stadium, but, if they top their group, their round of 16 match would take place at St James’ Park. Placing second would mean beginning the elimination stage at Everton’s ground.

Competition Launch and Demonstration

The championship was unveiled at an ceremony in central London on the previous evening. Senior figures from Uefa and the organizing bodies were confronted as they approached the site by approximately 50 pro-Palestine demonstrators, who demanded Israel’s national side to be removed from international football because of the conflict in Gaza.

Signs were raised with phrases stating “Show Israel the red card” and “You are complicit”, while demonstrators shouted: “Kick Israel out.”

Event Fixture List

The first match of Euro 2028 will be staged at the Cardiff’s stadium in Cardiff, on a Friday in June 2028, a match that will include the Welsh team if they qualify.

Wembley will host the two semi-final matches and the championship match, which will be staged on July 9, 2028 with a commencement at 5pm.

It is anticipated that an earlier kick-off, which will also be used for European club finals from the upcoming season, will cater to family audiences and help reach a more diverse set of viewers.

Host Nations

The Republic of Ireland are scheduled to play their initial fixture at the Dublin Arena and the Scottish team would follow suit at Glasgow’s Hampden Park.

All four host countries’ teams will take part in the qualification process; two reserved places will be reserved for any that miss out on the tournament through the standard process.

Locations and Knockout Stage

Aston Villa’s stadium and Spurs’ ground complete the nine tournament locations. Every stadium will hold at least one knockout match, with the quarterfinal matches played at each country’s national stadium.

The qualification draw will be staged in the Northern Irish capital, which was removed as a venue city last year when it emerged the Belfast stadium could not be upgraded in time, on 6 December 2026.

Official Statement

“The event will be a competition for the followers and a showcase of everything we value about the game – its emotion and power to unite individuals.”

More than three million tickets, a all-time high for a men’s European Championship, are projected to be made available to attendees.
