Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a ex-partner of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in communication with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of the player by name in their announcement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Posted on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete by name, posted a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. Jones did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the second round.

Police Reports Currently Not on File

No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Player's Recent Legal Issues

Rice missed the initial part of this season following an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that left multiple people hurt. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

On the field, Rice finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
