The Gory Cartoon Film Conclusion That Stays With Viewers

Out of every adult-oriented cartoon movies I have personally viewed, no other has lingered in my mind as much as the terror-laced ending of a viscerally violent as well as deeply subversive film from 2022 Unicorn Wars.

In the year 2015, this Spain-based writer-director crafted a dark, somber and often savage world with several minor , forlorn twinges of optimism.

While The Unicorn Wars feels like it stemmed from a desire to push the medium further, the filmmaker explained that it was rather a try to express a global, multicultural message regarding “the shared root of every conflict.”

That message is conveyed by means of a band of vividly colored bears , clearly inspired by a famous series of cuddly characters.

Growing up in a culture centered on warmongering as well as the defense industry, a lot of the bears are fixated on slaughtering the mythical beasts, due to a holy book that claims the bears they used to be masters of the woods, before the unicorns drove them out.

A few haven’t fully bought into the indoctrination, , choose to try out drugs and mate in the woods.

Unlike their friendly counterparts, these bright beings have visible sexual organs and clear sex drives.

For a certain particularly cruel, pessimistic creature, the character Bluey, the war against the unicorns becomes a road to power — and especially to supremacy above his softer, nicer brother Tubby.

The character is a bully and a seeming psychopath , and when horror overcomes his squad and kills his comrades individually, he takes more and more power personally, in increasingly bloody, destructive ways.

Meanwhile, the horned creatures are suffering their own horror, as a spreading, deadly beast in their woods.

“In the early stages, it appears as a lighthearted film,” the director said. “But then it turns into a more intense and melancholic film. And ultimately, it transforms into a horror film.”

Unicorn Wars starts out resembling among the playful films from a renowned animator, which find a naughty glee in letting cartoon characters curse, fire weapons, or sex each other up.

Afterward it evolves into something more like a more grim movie from the same artist, including ever more explicit brutality and a palpable relation to genuine horror of conflict.

By the end, it’s a complete extreme drama bloodbath.

The terror which makes the film a perfect Halloween movie starts a lot earlier than that description suggests.

The Unicorn Wars is one for the most dedicated gorehounds, for enthusiasts of extreme cinema who wish to view a film they have not seen on-screen before, and who can handle a plot that pulls absolutely no punches.

Watch it in a dark room without any distractions, and the conclusion will burrow under your skin and take up residence there.
