🔗 Share this article The network's Top Fresh Series of This Year Secures a Major Extension for an Additional Two Seasons. During the fall season, the late-night programming block debuted a new season of its quirky hit, Smiling Friends. However, shortly thereafter, the channel unveiled a fresh animated series with a distinctly unique vibe. Haha, You Clowns emerged as gentle and comforting, evoking a animated take of a contemplative talk show. During a period often defined by bleakness, this show's earnestness found an audience and helped it become a breakout hit. A Significant Investment On December 18th, Adult Swim made a major announcement: Haha, You Clowns has been greenlit for two additional seasons. This provides showrunner Joe Cappa significant creative freedom to develop the story of the Campbell family. The show focuses on three polite teenage brothers whose primary trait is their deep love for their widowed father, with Cappa voicing for all four central characters. "I am incredibly thankful to the viewers of the show who took a chance on the show and spread the word," said Cappa. "I’m incredibly thrilled that I get to hang out at the Campbell household for seasons to come." Executive Acclaim Accompanying the news laudits from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "profoundly sincere and strangely uncanny." He thanked the fans who embraced the show and championed its peculiarly charming appeal. "All of you supported this new show, championed for it on social media, and grew it week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," said Ouweleen. "To quote: 'You are strong! You are loved!'" A Wholesome Alternative When it first aired, Haha, You Clowns was hailed as "a comforting antidote" to more cynical adult animated fare. It offers something deeply soothing about watching this endearing family navigate their daily lives. Previously, creator Joe Cappa shared his hope to move the comedy genre beyond its long-running sarcastic tone. He attributed this trend to various cultural shifts. “It feels like there's a default mode of irony that we can't get ourselves out of,” noted Cappa. “The attitude is that we have to know we’re the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for too long, and we must laugh at something different now. It's time for comedy to grow.” The Path Forward Given this two-season order, with Haha, You Clowns set to continue, Cappa has the opportunity to help usher in that comedic shift. Or at the very least, the renewal promises audiences a little more time to experience the warm glow of the endearing Campbell clan. The first season's conclusion of Haha, You Clowns airs on December 21st. All episodes is ready to watch on HBO Max.
